New member of Shimano's family - Pedro Câmara Jr

22.February - 2024

Pedro Câmara Jr. joins the Shimano Family to take Downhill to another level!

Shimano Portugal is excited to announce this new partnership with the young phenomenon from the Azores, who at 16 years old is already making his mark in the world of downhill.

The vibrancy of the Azores island now echoes on the national and international downhill trails with the arrival of an extraordinary talent: Pedro Câmara Jr.! Born in Rabo de Peixe, in the stunning village of Ribeira Grande, Pedro is more than an athlete - he is the embodiment of the Azorean sporting spirit, elevating it both nationally and internationally.

From a young age, Pedro showed a passion for two wheels, starting motorcycling at the age of 3 and competing in the São Miguel Motocross Championship at the age of 7.

...a truly historic moment for Azorean cycling (…) the first national title won by a regional athlete, in this aspect, in national championships...” President of the Azores Cycling Association, Mário Marques.

However, destiny had other plans for him, and in 2019, Pedro found his true calling in downhill. Since then, it has been a meteoric rise, culminating in the title of Azores National and Regional Champion in the cadet category in 2021, followed by an impressive 3rd place in the junior National Championship in 2023.

However, Pedro doesn't feel fulfilled just by collecting titles - he search for bigger challenges.

In 2023, he represented Portugal at the World Championship in Scotland and participated in the World Cup, being invited by the Portuguese Cycling Federation to the World Championship.
